Deutsche Schule London (DSL) – German School London
Grand Opening of Sports Hall
Growing up in sports halls myself, I was delighted to document the grand opening of the sports hall on 2 March 2018 for the German School London. Interviews, performances, sport activities and the exitement in the audience summarised the joy and gratitude towards this impressive achievement.
The German School located in Richmond, London, is part of a long-standing tradition of academic excellence within a world-wide network of more than 140 schools that form the community of German Schools Abroad. The DSL is one of the largest German Schools Abroad; it caters for pupils from Kindergarten through middle school up to bilingual Abitur and IB diploma. There are currently almost 900 pupils from more than 30 countries at the School.
The new sports hall represents a major investment by the German Government into Richmond and was completed by British design and construction companies. It is a magnificent building, boasting a main hall with 968 square meter of floor space for a variaty of sports. The hall can be subdivided in 3 sections, or arranged to include seating for 400 people. And it offers lots of natural light!
Once the German School London has worked out their own usage requirement for their students, they will also wish to open up the hall for use by the local community, as a venue for sports and other events.
