Nathalie Errandonea-Mewes

Barre instructor and founder of NRG barrebody, London

“Movement and dance are both a lifelong passion and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”

Nathalie founded NRG barrebody almost 5 years ago. 5 years of hard work and connections that fill her heart with extreme gratitude. She has taught more than 3500 classes (phew) and grew an amazing community with her lifelong passion for movement and dance. Nathalie has had a strong and strict training in classical and modern dance for more than 10 years in her younger life and later on a training in barre and more recently Garuda. You can feel her energy and passion for what she does in each single class, which you can usually attend in person in her London Studio, via online livestreams and the NRG at home companion app.

Nathalie and I have been working together in a close partnership for over 2 years, photographing, filming, shaping visions and having fun. The trust and connection of this partnership is extremely beneficial for both sites. Having a photographer who understands your brand and values, along with the way you like to work is an invaluable tool in creating consistent and inspirational branding and bring your vision to life. Equally, the mutual trust creates a lot of freedom for creativity, new exciting projects and makes for a really time efficient way of working together for best results.

Nathalie, tell me …

did you have a dream job when you were a child?
When I was growing up I wanted to be a dancer, I wanted to be seen and make a difference.

What was your calling to become a Barre Instructor?
My childhood dream, I kept pursuing it after having my children.
I now dance ( not on a stage but in a studio) I am seen and I make a difference to my community.

How do you start your work day every morning?
I stretch every morning before starting my day of classes. My 10-20 minutes when I am alone in the studio before my clients arrive for class are very important for me. I get in the zone I breathe and get ready mentally for the day ahead.

What is your favourite thing about the place you work?
The light in my studio and the community vibe I live and breathe with all my clients .

What is the hardest thing of being your own boss?
Doing everything all day everyday and only relying on myself.

What does success mean to you?
Doing what I love surrounded by the people I love.

Best business advice you were ever given?
Be patient. And get good pictures to showcase your business. That’s true. And this is the business advice I give to every new business founder I meet.

Whom do you admire or look up to?
People who are very talented and work very very hard. I am hard to impress in some ways, I am always switched on and I only get impressed by people who really get out there and go for it.

What would you tell your younger self 15 years ago?
Be patient darling. It’s coming for you.

Dancing at Dawn

This short dance film, shot at dawn on one of London’s most iconic areas, Hampstead Heath, accompanied by an accoustic version of one of the most legendary French songs, “L’Hymne a l’amour” performed by Nathalie’s husband. A perfect fusion of Nathalie’s everyday two cultural worlds.
